Message from the band:

We’re an indie/rock/pop two-piece by the name of Colours hailing out of Dallas, TX. We’re in love with music. There’s nothing we love more than creating something between the two of us, then taking the ideas from our heads and making them come out through two speakers.

We grew up listening tobands like The Beatles, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, etc. When we started to become more interested in music and playing, bands we looked up to (to name a few) were Death Cab For Cutie, The Get Up Kids, OK Go. We met in middle school and in high school always played music but in separate bands. We didn’t start collaborating together seriously until after our high school years, where we finally went through enough learning experiences with several bands to know what it is we really wanted.

We love writing music. We often come up with ideas separately then come together to collaborate on them. We both write our songs on guitar first and once we have something to work with, we go into our practice room and and write the parts/arrangements for the other instruments (drums, piano/keys, etc). This process carries on into our studio sessions and we play all the instruments. We tried having other people involved but we realized that it complicated things more and no one cared about the music as much as we did. We’ve been friends for a long time and its much easier to communicate our ideas and thoughts with each other.

We’re always writing. With this EP out we’re already making plans for the next record and getting a solid line up of tracks to choose from before we hit the studio. We’ve done the 9-5/corporate world before and we chose doing what made us happy over a big paycheck. Your quality of life is much better when you’re actually pursuing something you’re passionate about. It’s better to be a dreamer than to not dream at all. We’re really excited about our first EP and we’re really wanting to push it as much as we can and get on the road. We’re a new band and at this point we really want to see what kind of reaction our music gets. We’re very optimistic and plan for this record to give us an excuse to get out on the road and work even harder.

Review Rinse Repeat says:

With music as colorful as their name, Texan duo Colours look set to be the most ambitious project to bloom from the southern state since PlayRadioPlay!. With mellow indie-pop melodies, the band don’t stray too far from the norm while attempting to establish their own sound. With potential present, Colours look likely to brush the scene’s palette.
