Holding Onto Hope brings something refreshing and relaxing into the breadth of releases that have been put out so far this year. Clear influences, but wholly original. The album titled intro track "Of The Sea", walks into the album with a very smooth harmonic instrumental flow. Which then brings you into "We Are The Beacons", and not being able to recognize some of the influence that Oh Sleeper has inspired would be hard to miss. The delayed and discordant structure carry the mood. Guitar work is clearly the section of this artwork that draws you in while the vocals provide an accomplished layer above, immersing you in the depth of how well the album has been orchestrated.

The melodic hardcore genre is one that is hard to peg in just the right way that will make it compelling and raw without sounding too generic and overproduced. The balance of the body of the album, from the tracks that rich in instrumental layers to the vocal emphasized melodic chaos that is the core of keeping their distinction, make this a very complete release that will be played in many play lists over and over again.

The range of instrumental levels and types of vocal style throughout the album alone are enough to warrant a first listen. Holding Onto Hope, a true idea of art, and music inspired by originality, are all synonymous; which fortunately will surprise many who are looking for something to stand out this year. Something that isn't going to sound trite or cliche after one listen through, and Of The Sea has the potential to lead this group to something much better.
