The Appleseed Cast, now signed to The Militia Group and Vagrant Records, is usually recognized for their deep emotional involvement in each song. They are often called America's answer to Radiohead. The band is perfectly content with being so-called, "independent," and member Chris Crisci, also front man for Old Cranes, stated that he is at ease with the fact that his music does not reach a wider, general audience. The band, formerly based in Los Angeles , now resides in Lawrence, Kansas. The move from Los Angeles to Lawrence was caused by Los Angeles' brimming music scene, where musicians must often pay to play at shows and where the cost of living is sky high. In Kansas, they now are able to relax and enjoy themselves while producing music that their fans adore.

Sagarmatha, also known for being the highest national park in the world, located at Mount Everest, shows the progression The Appleseed Cast has made, and I believe that they are now at the top of their game. The album consists of an ambient atmosphere which fills your head with imagery and past memories. Each song is a joy to listen to and time seems to fly while listening. "One Reminder, An Empty Room" seperates itself from the rest of the album as it has an acoustic guitar, something The Appleseed Cast are not known for, and usually heavily opposed to, and is a pleasant addition.

In lieu of this album doing so many things right, the one thing that I have noticed is that every song seems to connect with another, making it seem that the entire album is just one long orchestration. This may or may not be a bad thing, depending on the listener, and I, myself, certainly enjoyed it; however, I can see this album being repetitive or boring to a select few who may prefer a more mainstream type of music.

One thing is for certain, you will either love this album, or you will hate it. There is no in between. For fans of the genre, you will most certainly be pleased with this album. For newcomers, it may take a while getting use to the wide variety of long, seven-minute instrumental solos and the occasional vocal interjection; however, once you are use to this, the music soon becomes a brilliant composition.

Overall, this album is the best one so far from The Appleseed Cast, and they have now recognized their strengths and have improved them ten-fold from when they first started. You can now hear a certain confidence in their music and having a large instrumental presence is a daring step in the right direction, which makes this album very convivial. It is truly a delight to see that a band stays true to who they really are, unlike a majority of the other bands out there, and I applaud the effort given to this surreal album.
