We're The Fast Track from Minneapolis, MN, and we are a bunch of guys who aren't good enough to play what we really love, Nu-Metal, so we just play pop/rock instead. It works okay.
I can't speak for the other guys, but at least for me, growing up everyone has those days when they feel like they are the only person going through a rough patch. It's a really alienating feeling, and in those times when I felt the most alone, the only thing that was always there for me was music. It made me realize that I was not the only one going through those moments, and that knowledge helped me make it through and shaped the person I am today. I think that if we can do that for someone with one of our songs, then it was all worth it.
Phil and I were in an band together before The Fast Track that sort of folded, and we both decided that we loved playing and writing music with each other enough to give it all another go. We gradually found other musicians who shared the same drive and passion as we did and started making music. Since that day, we've put out two EP's a handful of mixtapes, toured coast to coast independently, and gotten to play to crowds ranging from 1-1500. We've been able to realize many of our dreams musically, and don't intend to stop anytime soon. I think it's the 10 hour drives of verbal abuse and ridiculous bouts of immaturity that really push us forward though. That and the Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.
We've actually just put out two brand new songs for free download that Michael Bland, the drummer of Prince, Nick Jonas and the Administration, and Soul Asylum produced. If anyone is interested in snagging them, they can head to
http://thefasttrack.bandcamp.com/ where all that's needed is an e-mail address. We had a really great time working on the songs, and they were actually also mixed by John Fields, who's known for his work with Jimmy Eat World, the Jonas Brothers, and Andrew WK. We approached the writing of these two differently than we normally would, and it was different working with an actually successful musician as opposed to just a successful producer. I think he made us realize some things and really added a lot to the whole process.
We are actually heading out on a pacific northwest/west coast trek with Washington Square Park(
http://www.myspace.com/washingtonsquarepark) in the next week or so. So if you're out that way, come on out and say hello to us. We'd love to meet you. Especially if your name is Andrew WK.
As soon as we get back from tour we are going to start working on some new songs with Phil Solem, the singer/guitarist for The Rembrandts (best known for their hit I'll Be There For You from the tv show Friends). We're really excited to work with him because after meeting him, we realized that he is just as ridiculous as we all are. Our first meeting included the subjects of butt-mongering, chasing (lobster) tail, and how we need to start writing about cannibalism if we are ever to be a successful pop band. We think it's a match made in heaven, and those songs should be out in early Winter.
We hope you enjoy the free songs, and we'll see you out on the road.

Review Rinse Repeat Says:
Feel-good music is basically my forte, and The Fast Track really have something I like. Their sound is well-rounded and just all-around fun, making it a perfect hit for the end of summer, and for some, the beginning of the school year.

Reading This, And Listening to this song, really reminded me kind of the Maine. Just their sound is familiar.
